These are the databases most likely to be useful to you. I've included a practice search below to hopefully give you an example of how to look for articles.
As you search databases, library catalogs, or websites, try using Boolean Operators to broaden or limit your search:
AND - search for both keywords
OR - search for either keyword
NOT - exclude a keyword
Let us do a practice search in Academic Search Complete.
Dr. Debbie Reese is an important voice in academia about Native children’s literature and a good place to start.
The link above will take you to the main search page with three search boxes in the top right corner.
In the top box, change the “any field” tag to “AU author” in the drop-down list. Then search the name “Debbie Reese” which will give you results Dr. Reese either wrote or co-wrote.
From this result page you can narrow the search with options on the left side bar. You can choose to only view the results with the full text, or only those from academic journals. You can also narrow by date.
To find the specific article I have referenced below, go back to the search boxes. Make sure the tag next to the second box says “AND” then choose a portion of the article title to search for. I chose “selecting and using” for my search and got only one result:
Reese, Debbie. “Critical Indigenous Literacies: Selecting and Using Children’s Books about Indigenous Peoples.” Language Arts 95, no. 6 (July 2018): 389–93. https://library.ncte.org/journals/LA/issues/v95-6/29686.
