Native American Children's Literature

This video is a presentation by Dr. Debbie Reese (Nambé Owingeh) founder and editor of the American Indians in Children’s Literature blog also referenced in this bibliography. Produced by the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), this video is specifically aimed at teachers learning criteria for evaluating kids books for more insightful story-times in the classroom.

A lecture given by Dr. Debbie Reese at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona in which she focuses on the importance of representation for Native children. She also highlights the growing power of social media campaigns to demand better and more accurate representation from authors and publishers in children’s literature. This is a useful source for examining what people can do to support native children with reading and representation.
